Meet Karen Sommers

Based in North Carolina, United States

Karen Sommers started her career in Pittsburgh as a director and theater manager. After going on national tour, Karen worked on and off-Broadway with noted directors Diane Paulus, Scott Schwartz and John Caird. In 2002, Karen was awarded Director Artist-in-Residence at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center where she developed two original productions, one of which was performed regionally and off-Broadway.

In 2005, Karen was brought on as Director and Producer of KidZone TV, the world’s first live and interactive hospital studio located inside New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital. Karen hired and managed engineers and talent, and 4x the network programming during her time as Director-Producer. Karen then launched an international conference coaching other hospitals how to open and run their own interactive-live hospital studio.

In 2009, Karen relocated to Los Angeles where she became Theater Media Arts Manager for The Art of Elysium, a non-profit that helped hospitalized children cope with “hospital life” through live, interactive entertainment by celebrities and filmmakers.

After the birth of her son in 2012, Karen relocated back to New Jersey to be closer to family. In 2013, Karen and her partner opened Moment Physical Therapy, which quickly became one of the most recommended and sought after clinics in the region. Karen oversaw marketing, sales, hiring, and training, and helped scale the clinic from a start-up to a 7-figure business.

After selling their clinic in 2020, Karen relocated to the Blue Ridge mountains in North Carolina and was brought on as a Lead Coach with LifeHikes®. She has since coached C-suite executives, VPs, directors and managers at PepsiCo, Marsh & McLennan, Amazon, Meta, MasterCard, and many other global companies. Her one-to-one and large group coaching has centered around her experience as a director and business owner, including topics such as: consultative sales, branding, pitch development, executive presentation skills, handling objections and meeting management.

In continuation of Karen’s love for health and fitness, she is also a certified personal trainer and coaches women 55+ who are suffering from health related conditions and orthopedic injuries. After identifying a need in the wellness market, Karen developed a coaching program to aid PT clinics in their efforts to onboard and coach medical administrators in 5-star customer service, retention, sales and conversion. She is currently in beta launch with a regional physical therapy clinic.

"Karen is an amazing and engaging instructor. She created a safe place immediately and conducted a training on a very high level. Appreciate her time and enthusiasm she brought to the session. We were glad to have her as our coach. I will attribute the audience engagement to the mirror neurons! Highly recommended!"
